Bored With Your Yoga Practice? Tips To Stay Motivated

You’ve been practicing yoga for a few weeks, months or even years and you love it. However, it’s getting harder to get on the mat for your daily practice these days. It may be that things are getting busier at your work or that your kids need more attention. Perhaps you’re going through a stressful season in life and you’d much rather cuddle up with a bucket of ice cream than sweat it out on your yoga mat.

Whatever your situation, it’s not unusual to feel a lack of motivation every now and then. Yes, even for something that you love. Here’s how you can stay motivated with your yoga practice.

1. Keep it short

One of the biggest temptations that come along with a lack of motivation is to stop practicing. However, getting back on the horse once you stop will be very difficult. If you’re feeling a lack of motivation, shorten your practice times instead of stopping them altogether. Take it down to 30 or even 10-minute sessions a day. These short sessions will give you time to stretch and distress.

Lengthening them later will be much easier than trying to start practice all over again.

2. Set the mood

Get in the right frame of mind for your practice. Gift yourself an original eco yoga mat, for example, to help motivate you to get practicing. You can search for fitness mats for sale for a new yoga mat. Consider buying a new yoga outfit or clearing a space in your home that is dedicated to your practice and meditation. Set a regular time in which you will practice and let your family know that you don’t want to be disturbed within this time. All these will help you get in the right frame of mind for your practice.

These simple steps will help you tide the storm of a lack of motivation. Everyone has those days when the practice is the last thing they want to do. You simply need to learn to stay in the moment and rediscover what you enjoy about yoga practice.
